Kaia Kater with Special Guests Anna & Elizabeth
CES at Frostburg State University presents the Appalachian Festival Capstone Concert September 15th at 7pm!
Born of African-Caribbean descent in Québec, Kaia Kater’s old-time banjo skills, jazz-fueled voice and deft songcraft have garnered acclaim from BBC Music, No Depression, and Rolling Stone, who named her one of the 10 Country Artists You Need to Know. Her innovative style reveals that she has as much in common with Kendrick Lamar as with Pete Seeger.
SPECIAL GUESTS: Anna & Elizabeth
Appalachian folk musicians Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle combine soul-stirring harmonies, storytelling, and the use of a traditional “crankie” – illustrated, hand-cranked scrolls – to bring old-time music and ballads to a new generation of music lovers.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $16.20 for youth under 18. For more information or to order tickets please visit CES’s webpage at ces.frostburg.edu or contact the CES box office at 1-866-849-9237 or 301-687-3137.
This engagement of Kaia Kater is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Cultural Events Series is supported in part by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. On the web at msac.org. CES is sponsored in part by the City of Frostburg.
